Vacuum Kiln(真空窑)
Maple tops are dried in this huge kiln, preparing them to be matched with mahogany backs and cut into a body.
Truss Rod Insertion(琴颈调节杆)
The truss rod is a Gibson invention that allows guitarists to add tension or relief to the neck. This is a raw neck and truss rod before the spline and fretboard are attached.
Frets & Fingerboard Binding(指板包边)
Frets are installed by hand (top photo), ensuring even pressure along the length of the fret for every fret.
Binding is also hand-installed (bottom). Some extra binding material is purposely left hanging over the end of the fingerboard.

Fingerboard Quality Control(指板质检)
A QC specialist check for high frets, uneven inlays and side dots, as well as gapped binding.
Hand Rolling(琴头调节)
The neck is hand-rolled on a belt sander, where it takes on its final shape.
Neck Line Quality Control(琴颈检测)
Another QC expert checks the neck just before it goes to the neck fit station, where it will be set into a body.
Body Line - Binding (琴体包边)
A binder makes the 45-degree cut on a LP Custom that allows the lines in the binding to match up.
Scraping (修边)
Scraping the paint from the binding is a meticulous, labor-intensive process.
Final Inspection(终检)
The last step in the process is final inspection. Here Benny Jones is adjusting the pickup height. He'll go over the guitar thoroughly to ensure the playability and aesthetic perfection. This is the last step the guitar takes before it ships to a Gibson dealer and distributor.
